Taylor Gearhart is a visual artist driven to create work that explores
the intimate and transient nature of femininity, intimacy, violence, and power. Her work, while
centered around photography, also utilizes sculpture, embroidery, fiber and other
mixed media. She was born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania on January 11, 1995. She began
taking photographs at the age of 16, becoming especially interested in conceptual self-portraits
that interacted with the quiet, conservative backdrop of the small town she grew up in.
She is a 2017 graduate of Robert Morris University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a dual
concentration in Graphic Design and Photography. Gearhart is currently an Art Photography
Master of Fine Arts candidate at Syracuse University.
